The coloring in Orikri’s paintings is brash and high in intensity. The geometric designs form cryptic patterns. From these patterns, the Detroit skyline emerges, as if plants from a system of cubic roots. In these paintings, Detroit is hopeful, not dark and abysmal. Oranges, reds and blues meld into a bold statement about a city’s potential vivacity. You will not shortly forget seeing Orikri’s paintings.
I met Timothy about five years ago and was totally taken aback by his Artwork and his sense of Community. Without knowing him I would have thought he was born and raised in Detroit because of his love and depiction of our city.
Timothy has been a positive influence and mentor to the many people he has met through his art. He uses color in an incredible way, so bright and vibrant. Not being a winter person, surprisingly my absolute favorite painting of Timothy’s is his winter scene of Downtown. “Wintery Halcon” which was published as a cover for the Detroit Athletic Club 2008. This painting amongst other things evokes wonderful memories for me of Detroit, then and Now! It is timeless. I will own it one day.
Orikri works most often on murals; the pieces of art, so dazzling on paper, are breathtaking in reality.
Timothy’s art is bold and beautiful. The colors are captivating, and, regardless of the subject matter, intriguing and truly compelling. There is a spiritual quality to his work that is reflective of his outlook on life.
Tim is an artist who not only creates multimedia art that inspires and fuels creativity but he is a dedicated volunteer who inspires the passion for art in children.
