At the urging of friends and art fans who wanted a place to write about how my art makes them feel, I have started this blog post. I cannot thank you all enough for your friendship, kindness and love of art.

I believe that art is not just a reflection of the artists’ personality but something that should make the viewer “feel”. Timothy’s work does just that and in a totally unique way. When I look at his work I feel a sense of peace and happiness…a celebration of life and pride of accomplishments. I feel a man who is giving and thankful, someone who worked hard his whole life speading his gift so that that we, the viewers, can “feel”. His work is so diversified, that even a novice to the art world is immediately touched by the beauty of his works.
I am a high school art teacher in New Jersey. The beautiful artwork of Timothy Orikri is now a unit we study in our Drawing and Painting Classes. Today, after I showed my students a short video on the artist and also photographs of his work transformed into a floor for a childrens’ hospital, I asked my students what they “feel” when view these creations. Many said the usual but necessary movement, color and balance but one student summed up in words what I often think about. He told me when he looks at the work he sees beauty in just ordinary things. He said he sees how blessed we are, because even ordinary things are special and this art work has made him see this for the first time.
I thank you Timothy, for helping me become a better teacher through your work, and for touching the souls of so many.

Audrey, thank you for your kind words. It is an honor that my works are part of your classroom teaching aid and that your students find the same joy of art as I do. I too find a peace and happiness with each brush stroke. I’m glad you find a joy in my creations.
